Andra Sparks - A new project
DOMINIC ASHWORTH - born in Hamilton - Ontario, Canada, Dominic studied guitar at the
University of Toronto, Canada, with Eli Kassner,graduation in 1982. Before moving to the UK
he performed at the Hanava Guitar Festical, Cuba, and studied under scholarship in Spain.
He settled in the UK, writing music, including a version of Carmen, which was performed at the Newcastle Playhouse.
Dominic's musicals inspirations for writing and performing include: J.S.Bach, Duke Ellington,
Charlie Parker, Paco deLucia and George Benson. In Glasgow he co-founded the group Ah Um,
a regular feature of the Glasgow and Edinburgh Jazz Festivals. He toured and recorded there with Carol Kidd.
Now based in Greenwich, Dominic is a member of Digby Fairweather's Half Dozen and has played and recorded with George Melly and now Paul Jones. He plays with Julian Marc Stringle's Dream Band,
and Michael Garrick's Quartet and Big Band. He teaches guitar at Trinity College of Music.
He has several acclaimed albums:
'Portraits' - his debut trio album with Nic France, Chris Dodd and guest Josefina Cupido
'Between Ourselves' a solo album of arrangements of music from British musicals and
'Routes' - a duo album with bassist Paul Moylan.
